THE WILD CIRCLE
Since 2019 the Wild Circle has been exploring gentle ways of repairing our fragile often damaged relationship with the natural world. With our wonderful team we have immersed ourselves in Nature on our Solo Retreats in the Wild, on our Forest Bathing and Dream Retreats. We have followed the circular rhythms of the seasons through the Wheel of the Year, and explored materials and the joy of working with our hands to make Coracles, Bows, Spoons and much more; it has been an inspiring journey.
The Ash Tree Project
In 2024 we are taking time out from running retreats to develop several art projects looking with care and attention at the Ash tree, the Celtic and Norse Tree of Life and a tree that has been at the heart of work here at Sunnybank Farm. The Ash Tree Project is a way of celebrating this wonderful tree and mourn its passing as it slowly disappears from our woods and hedgerows. Some of the art works are in progress, others like the Pinhole series of photographs, ‘In The Shadow of the Tree of Life,’ and ‘Second Skin,’ are available to buy in our online Shop.
In all our work the intention remains the same - to work with head, hand and heart, and let the wild back in.
“Unusually in Nature, the human egg is almost completely round. Our eyes see the world through circular lenses. Our earliest homes were often circular, our ceremonial spaces too and in more recent times our spiritual buildings were often crowned with a circular dome. How is it then that we have become so linear? So boxed in? So keen to follow the straight and narrow? Perhaps it’s because a circle, in many of its incarnations, can be disruptive, uncomfortable even, and a catalyst for radical change.”
